There have always been cycles and we’re now in the process of entering another. That’s nothing new. What’s new this time is the convergence of uncertainties, which some have gone so far as to call confusion. Uncertainty was not unknown and has included concerns about macroeconomic issues (e.g., interest rates, inflation, growth), but other quandaries have now reared their heads for the first time: artificial intelligence, which some actually consider a threat to humanity, the restructuring of operational networks to prioritize flexibility and security, housing affordability challenges throughout the West, demographics, including migration, and the vulnerability of traditional social structures. Many others also come to mind.
We cannot redesign the past or search for patterns that will apply to tomorrow. We’ll have to redefine strategies, align the talent we need, increase flexibility, secure the required resources and challenge established approaches. The only way to succeed in the future is to create it, at least within your company. The Industry Meeting will provide a framework for analyzing these transformations from complementary perspectives in a space for calm reflection that allows us to scrutinize the future with better chances of accurately identifying feasible scenarios.
