Served as U.S. Secretary of Energy from 2021 to 2025. During her tenure, she led efforts to advance cutting-edge clean energy technologies, supporting President Biden’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Before joining the Department of Energy, she was Governor of Michigan from 2003 to 2011, having previously served as the state’s Attorney General from 1999 to 2003.
She graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned her law degree from Harvard Law School.

Associate Editor and Chief Economics Commentator, Financial Times. A leading voice on European and global economic affairs, with a sharp focus on today’s most pressing topics such as the rise of populism, Brexit economic policy, climate change economics, the future of the eurozone, and the economies of China and India.
Served as a member of the UK government’s Independent Commission on Banking from June 2010 to September 2011.
Earlier in his career, spent a decade as an economist in the World Bank’s International Trade Division.
Since 1999, has been a participant at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he has also moderated sessions, and is a member of the International Media Council. Previously served as Director of Studies at the Trade Policy Research Centre in London and has advised governments and international organizations on trade and economic integration.
